• Mike Huckabee expressed support for a Guest Worker Program similar to that supported by
Bush.

• He backs mandatory citizenship verification for immigrant workers on the part of the
employers and believes in fining and penalizing employers of illegal employees.

• For manufacturers who build products domestically he supports a broad new tax credit
policy. This category includes auto makers, appliance makers and seven software developers.

• He believed that excessive litigation, red tape and regulations cause job losses and
promised as President he would part a lot of the red tape involved.

• He pointed out that a lot of workers are underpaid while CEO salaries continue to rise
therefore making the growth of a strong labor force inevitable in the United States.

• According to him since 80% of all jobs in the country come from small businesses, they need
more investment, growth opportunities and support from the government.

• He was for vetoing the Employment Nondiscrimination Act that would also include sexual
orientation into Federal Law. This would protect business owners from doing things that would
violate their moral conscience.

• He described Wal-Mart as a case study in the genius of the American market place. He
commended the fact that it paid higher wages to its labor force and was always impressed with its
exemplary corporate structure.

• He commented that Consumerism is addictive but tranquility is immaterial.

• He recognized the fact that there is 33% more unemployment among the black community, a lot
due to racial differences and stressed on increasing educational and employment opportunities for
them to destroy the inequality that prevails.

• President Obama is a strong supporter of worker's rights. He believes they should be given
the right to bargain collectively and strike if the need arises. He would see to it that striking
workers are not completely expelled from work.

• Obama believes in the Employees Free Choice Act which is a bipartisan effort to enable
workers to organize. The essence of the Act is to give the employees a choice whether to join a
union or not and not simply be pressured into joining.

• He opposed Bush's National labor Relations Board's 'Kentucky River' decisions to classify
workers such as nurses, construction workers as supervisors. They were not to receive protection
under Federal labor laws under this decision therefore Obama cosponsored legislation against this.

• Obama intended to raise the minimum wages index it to inflationary levels and thereby raise
the Earned Income Tax Credit.

• Obama supports the United Auto Workers and AFL-CIO and the right of workers to bargain
collectively and strike if necessary.  While running for election he said that he would work to ban
the permanent replacement of striking workers.

• Obama believes that America's future lies in developing new clean energy jobs which can be
achieved by mandatory limits on carbon pollution which will create a stable business environment
welcoming investments from entrepreneurs in a new energy economy.

• Obama plans to invest in innovation and development by giving increased access to capital
and by cutting health care costs and also by introducing a new Small Business Health Tax Credit.

• He supports the setting up of a national infrastructure bank to use public and private
capital to fund projects. He builds in creating jobs by rebuilding business infrastructure.

• Obama believes that workers should have the freedom to choose whether to join a union
without harassment or intimidation from their employers. Obama cosponsored and is strong advocate
for the Employee Free Choice Act, a bipartisan effort to assure that workers can exercise their
right to organize.  He will continue to fight for EFCA's passage and sign it into law.

• Sarah Palin is a firm believer in free market capitalization saying this gives an
opportunity for all parties to compete.

• She believes that workforce fundamentals are strong and economy needs oversight.

• She supports reduction of business taxes and encouraging small business growth. She
criticized Obama on this issue saying that small businesses would be affected in his decision to tax
people with incomes of $250,000 a year or more thus lowering productivity and job opportunities.

• She advocated that Unions should get member permissions before using dues for political
donations on grounds that unions are responsible for workers and also accountable to them.

• She believed in the creation of jobs in all sectors and praised the Red Dog Zinc Mine for
their efforts on this issue.

• She supported a voc-tech curriculum in educational institutions to leverage job training
dollars for workforce development.

• While Governor of Alaska she brought in tax cuts and infrastructural improvements,
encouraging new businesses and thereby drawing more shoppers and increasing business revenue.

• She abolished business inventory taxes during her term in the governor's office.

• Sarah Palin in association with the Alaska Department of Labor and Workforce Development
started the Alaska Construction Academy which trained adults and students in various skills like
carpentry, plumbing, electrical welding etc.

• She was a firm supporter for Equal Pay for Equal Work and said no way would she stand for
women getting lesser pay compared to men.

• Mitt Romney voiced his protest against a labor bill known as The Employee Free Choice Act
that would make it easier for unions to organize describing it as a dangerous legislation saying
that it would have a negative impact on the nation's ability to compete globally and would also
dampen the scope of new businesses.

• Mitt Romney suggested that welfare recipients should go to work immediately. He suggested
doing away with capital gains taxes for those firms that invest in inner city enterprise zones also
advocated tax credits for hiring poor residents of those areas.

• He stands for writing off a lot of capital expenditures of business firms to induce them to
buy more so that it will have the effect of other companies hiring more people thus generating more
jobs.

• He believes a cut in Corporate Taxes will have a significant impact over time. It can
stimulate the economy, create jobs and encourage foreign investment.

• He said that the American worker could be richer by $9000 a year by opening up the market
to American goods and services. The workers can sell the products they manufacture around the world
thus raking in more income.

• He is of the opinion that it is the businessmen and not politicians who should negotiate
trade with foreigners so that patents, designs and technology etc are adequately protected.

• He encouraged Trade and commerce with Asian countries saying that it will only strengthen
the Us economy and lead to further growth.
