• Going Rogue: An American Life
• America by Heart: Reflections on Family, Faith, and Flag
The former Governor of Alaska came into national prominence in 2009 after being selected as the running mate for John McCain, the presidential candidate for the Republican Party. Her first book, Going Rogue, is a direct result of that episode, with Palin baring her soul and chronicling her life, both personal and professionally in the memoir. Her revelation on the events surrounding the failed McCain presidency bid and her part in it is worth the price of the book itself. Nevertheless, reading the whole book offers us a better understanding and appreciation of Palin as a politician and an American.
Her second book, America by Heart, has cynics whispering ‘campaign book’ just a little too loudly. However, putting that aside, this book, which details Palin’s thoughts and aspirations, firmly grounded in her conservative values, as she shares the story of her travels throughout the country and meeting her fellow Americans of all creeds and ethnicity. Although at times it appears as slightly advertorial, no one can deny the love that Palin has for her country.
