Palin position on Trade Issues
|
• Sarah Palin is rather worried about China's bid to try and manage Alaska gasline. "An energy-thirsty Communist nation controlling Alaska's natural gas reserves was not in the best interest of the state or our country."
• While Governor of Alaska, Sarah Palin signed House Bill 34 that permits holders of a winery license to ship five gallons of wine within the state of Alaska. This she said will help small wineries to contend with those in the business outside the state through internet, mail and fax orders.
• Sarah Palin has requested the US bureau of Customs and Border Protection to withdraw the proposed law that could hurt the tourism industry in Alaska.
• Palin stated, "I am a conservative Republican, a firm believer in free market capitalism. A free market system allows all parties to compete, which ensures the best and most competitive project emerges, and ensures a fair, democratic process." From the Campaign Booklet 'New Energy for Alaska.'
• Sarah Palin supports government subsidy for farmers.
• "Education helps trade, too. International courses at our schools and universities help us excel in international markets." Letter from Governor Palin on Alaska state trade website September 1, 2008.
